    By Kimberly Reyes (@CommDuCoeur)

Northern California’s Silicon Valley is the beating heart of our industry.  Ever since Stanford University planted its high-tech seeds in the San Francisco Bay area at the beginning of the last century, we saw a fast and furious growth in technological innovation that forever changed the way we live.

And while innovation has since spread its roots to other parts of the country and even the world, the spirit of Silicon Valley carries on, with the passion and ambition that only comes from dedicated computer nerds and friends with deep pockets.  Here are our top five Silicon Valley ones to watch. 2. Minimally Yours

    By Dan Licht (@thedvl)

Barebones, simple, exclusive. These are all words that spring to mind when thinking of minimal design. Minimalism has been around for quite some time. The ability to use just what is needed and nothing more. It’s no wonder that it has been highly utilized in interactive design. After all, the requirements of designing for the web have always been built on a foundation of limits. Back in the ’90s we were restricted to only 216 colors and minuscule file sizes. But minimal interactive design is alive and well. Read More-->ive design is alive and well.

  3. Nostalgia: Long Gone Gadgets

John Cusack in Say Anythi 002 300x180 Nostalgia: Long Gone Gadgets

This week, Zemoga’s talking gadgets: our all-time favorites, cutting-edge innovations, and even ones that haven’t been invented…yet.  Today, we’re getting blast from the past with some gadget nostalgia!

    By Briana Campbell (@MsMatchgirl)

It’s 1988, you’re sitting in a movie theater with a couple of girlfriends, eating Twizzlers and drinking a diet cola.  And before you, on screen, sweet Lloyd Dobbler (John Cusack) is holding a boom box high above his head, Peter Gabriel’s “In Your Eyes” blaring, trying to win back his love, Diane Cort (Ione Skye).  It’s an iconic scene.  It’s one this girl has thought (ok, dreamt) a lot about over the years.  And it’s dated.

I mean, really?  A boom box?  What would an 18 year old, love struck teenager use today?  Holding an iPod docking station above your head doesn’t quite have the same affect, does it? Read More-->ive design is alive and well.

  4. University 2.0 – Improving the College Student User Experience

College studentsWhy do textbooks still exist?

Mid-September means everyone is back at school already.  And that got me thinking about a few things. Remember the fuss a couple of years ago when Georgia College gave all their incoming students an iPod? It was one of those big stories that captured the public imagination since it illustrated just how dramatically the learning experience was about to be changed by technology. Flash forward to the present and we haven’t progressed as far as we might like. But the tools are certainly out there to do so. Read More-->ive design is alive and well.

  8. The Agile Process

    cubes2 The Agile Process

I know that some developers our there use the Hope methodology, some might use the Pray methodology, but those don’t really work for real, mission critical, high volume applications like the ones we build.

So we went on a search for the kind of methodology that would facilitate fast, iterative, user centric application development. Most traditional methodologies are very “Waterfall” oriented (i.e. Read More-->>
