  3. Healthcare and Social Media: Finally, Everyone Can Play Nice

    1914931 Healthcare and Social Media: Finally, Everyone Can Play NiceThis post is part of a week-long series on the current practices and potential applications of social media in various industries.

    By Kimberly Reyes (@CommDuCoeur)

    Talking about social media and healthcare is a pretty big pill to swallow (pun intended).  A lot of us take our health seriously…and social networking sites not-so-seriously.  But the reality is that social networking has Read More-->ole for Flash in that future?

    This post continues our week-long series detailing the impact of social media on various industries.

    By Briana Campbell (@MsMatchgirl)

    Thanks to the economic downturn of last year, the perpetual hot topic – for the foreseeable future – is personal finance.  How can you manage your money?  Why do we manage our money so poorly?  Why on earth do people think it’s OK to buy a bunch of stuff that’s way too expensive for our tax bracket?  And why is it that people seem so very confused about all of this? Treasure Chest 300x237 How Should Google Spend $26 Billion?By Sven Larsen (@zemoga)

    Did you hear the news? Mashable reports that Google had an insanely profitable first quarter and they now have a war chest of over $26 billion. That’s a lot of lettuce. And even though they’ve been on a bit of an acquisition spree lately, there’s still plenty of things they can do Read More-->;

  7. My iPad Adventure

     My iPad Adventure

    By Elad Ziv (@elad_ziv)

    This weekend I had the task of making sure to grab one of Mr. Job’s “Game-Changing” devices for the boss man, Mr., Edgerton, @wiltonbound.  All week I was toying with the idea of whether or not I needed to sit outside the Apple store on Friday night in order to have a shot at grabbing this iPad Saturday morning.  On top of this, I needed to choose from Apple’s four different retail stores in Manhattan.  The 5th Avenue store (one of the top 10 tourist destinations in NYC) seemed to be a little bit of a challenge so we decided that I would go to the West 14th Store in Manhattan’s Meatpacking district.  After much research on the iPad’s and a little bit of investigation I decided to go to the store at 4 a.m. and pray that I would not find a line of hundreds of Apple fanatics who were there hours before me. 8. Two “I” Words for the iPad: Imperfect, Yet Ingenious

    iPad 002 Two I Words for the iPad: Imperfect, Yet Ingenious

    By Kimberly Reyes (@CommDuCoeur)

    Let’s pretend you’re an alien from outer space and tomorrow is your first day visiting earth.

    And you’ve got your entrance music and your “I come in peace” speech ready.

    You park your ship and lower the bridge–you’re anxious, but ready to take that one small step for aliens.

    …And are soon disappointed to learn that frankly, no one gives a damn.

    Before you get down on yourself, you probably should know that tomorrow is truly the worst day for an extraterrestrial landing.  Tomorrow, friend, is iPad day. Read More-->;

  9. The iPad vs. the Kindle – Can’t We All Just Get Along?

    Reader graphic The iPad vs. the Kindle Cant We All Just Get Along?

    By DJ Edgerton (@wiltonbound)

    With April 3rd rapidly approaching, the buzz throughout the publishing industry is all about the iPad and more specifically the iBooks store that launches with the device. Many are talking about the iPad being a “Kindle killer” since it offers so much more functionality than Amazon’s popular device.  And Apple is definitely using its position as a viable competitor to make life more difficult for Amazon. Jeff Bezos’ team have already had major showdowns on pricing with Macmillan and it looks like there will be more such confrontations with the other members of the “founding five” (the publishers who have signed up as the initial product providers for the iBooks store).
