When you launch an advertising campaign, whether it’s print, radio, or television, measuring the success of your efforts is crucial to the business and marketing decisions that you make.  Equally as important is how you measure these numbers.  The feedback on traditional campaigns may not be 100% accurate, but the information does provide insight into who you are communicating with and how they are responding. 2. Two “I” Words for the iPad: Imperfect, Yet Ingenious

iPad 002 Two I Words for the iPad: Imperfect, Yet Ingenious

    By Kimberly Reyes (@CommDuCoeur)

Let’s pretend you’re an alien from outer space and tomorrow is your first day visiting earth.

And you’ve got your entrance music and your “I come in peace” speech ready.

You park your ship and lower the bridge–you’re anxious, but ready to take that one small step for aliens.

…And are soon disappointed to learn that frankly, no one gives a damn.

Before you get down on yourself, you probably should know that tomorrow is truly the worst day for an extraterrestrial landing.  Tomorrow, friend, is iPad day. Read More-->

  3. How Continuous Integration Helps Us Keep Projects Moving

Feedback Loop How Continuous Integration Helps Us Keep Projects Moving

    By Dennis Portello

One of the differentiators of good interactive technology & development firms is process. Not smoke and mirror strategy mumbo-jumbo but the process through which innovative thinking is actually executed and delivered. It does not matter how great an idea is, or how good it looks, if it doesn’t work … it’s shite.

At Zemoga, we pride ourselves on being able to deliver on the promise that innovation often reveals to us. How do we do that? We make sure that we follow the best practices out there. We learn from mistakes others make, and our own. We constantly improve. Perfection is not a destination but a journey nobody ever really completes. Just ask Tiger. Read More-->

  4. Why Won’t Google Leave Me Alone?

Google Photo Why Wont Google Leave Me Alone?

    By Sven Larsen (@zemoga)

What are those guys in Mountain View trying to do to us?

I’m still trying to find the time to master Google Wave. I’ve had an invite for a while but I’ve just been too busy to really explore it’s functionality. Then they launched Google Buzz. It looks fun but I haven’t found the time to play with it either. Earlier this week they announced the Google Public Data Explorer, a cool data visualization tool. And today, they’re announcing the Google Apps Marketplace.

    It’s a lot to handle.

And they’re not slowing down either. The Chrome OS is coming. Their building high speed networks. And there are at least two tablets running Android that will be released in the next couple of months. Read More-->.

  5. Flashy Talk

Mr. Jobs might make some people angry. Very, very angry. During a demo with Wall Street Journal he said “We don’t spend a lot of energy on old technology”. Now that is out of context I’m sure but there has been a lot of buzz around the lack of Flash support on the iPad. This is compiled by the difficulties in the past with Adobe & Apple on flash in the iPhone OS as well as long running speed issues on Mac OSX. But the real question is where will Flash wind up. I have a theory on that. Let me blow your mobile mind.

With all the iPhone announcements today, what better time to let you know that we’ve just released a new iPhone app? Z Quarters is a fun application that lets you play the classic drinking game even when you don’t have a “a c.1965 fake wood linoleum kitchen table”. Read More-->

opensource logo Open Source: Being Part of the Movement

In the last few years, we’ve read articles on numerous sites and blogs about Open Source applications and useful tools to improve daily tasks (organize photos, manage project deadlines, share music, etc.).  But now,  there are big changes being made to the policy of “use, improve and share”. 9. A Review of Basecamp – Project Management Software

    Basecamp logo

BASECAMP lets us keep track of our stuff!

BASECAMP is the web application Zemoga uses to track its project milestones, deliverables and “official” client communications. We’ve been using it for two years now and (despite the somewhat clunky zemogatime.updatelog.com URL) its easy to use interfaces and simple milestone and time tracking functionalities have improved our shared understanding of project goals and client commitments. 10. The Agile Process

    cubes2 The Agile Process

I know that some developers our there use the Hope methodology, some might use the Pray methodology, but those don’t really work for real, mission critical, high volume applications like the ones we build.

So we went on a search for the kind of methodology that would facilitate fast, iterative, user centric application development. Most traditional methodologies are very “Waterfall” oriented (i.e. Read More-->.
